HIFU Face & Neck Pre & Post Treatment Care

At Elite Body Contouring, every HIFU face and neck appointment begins with a strong focus on safety and informed care. The way you prepare for your session and how you look after your skin afterwards both play an important role in supporting optimal results.

Below, we outline important guidance for before and after HIFU sessions. If at any point you are unsure or would like personalised advice, our team is here to help.

Radio Frequency Face Treatment

Why pre-treatment care matters

HIFU technology delivers focused ultrasound energy at precise depths beneath the skin. For this energy to be delivered safely and effectively, the skin surface must be intact and free of irritation or inflammation.

When the skin barrier has been compromised, whether from peels, laser treatments, excessive sun exposure or strong active ingredients, it may become more reactive or sensitive. This can increase discomfort and interfere with the healing response. Taking the correct precautions helps minimise risk, reduce inflammation and create the ideal environment for skin tightening and lifting.

What to do before your HIFU non-surgical facelift session

Follow the guidelines below to ensure your skin is suitable for HIFU non-surgical facelift:

  • Avoid facial peels and cosmetic treatments in or near the target area for at least four weeks prior to your session.
  • Avoid microdermabrasion and laser treatments for two weeks before treatment to ensure the skin barrier remains intact.
  • Excessive sun exposure must be avoided for at least 48 hours before your appointment. If the skin is sunburnt or inflamed, we will be unable to proceed with treatment.
  • Skincare products containing active ingredients, including Vitamin A (retinoids), Vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs, should be discontinued three to five days before your appointment to reduce the risk of potential irritation.
  • HIFU is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Let us know if you have dental implants or metal plates in the treatment area so suitability can be assessed properly.
  • If you are currently taking medication for breakouts, skin thinning or photosensitivity (including Roaccutane), we are unable to proceed with treatment due to the increased risk of burning.
  • If you have any open wounds, active breakouts, infection or significant skin sensitivity in the area, treatment will need to be postponed until the skin has healed.
  • Treatment cannot be performed if thread lifts have been placed in the treatment area within the past six months.
  • The treatment area must be clean shaven prior to treatment.

Post-HIFU non-surgical facelift care tips

Below are our recommended HIFU aftercare guidelines to support a comfortable recovery period and protect the treated area while your skin settles.

  • It is normal for the treated area to feel warm immediately after treatment, and you may notice mild redness, flushing or a tingling sensation. These responses typically resolve on their own within a few hours.
  • Waxing should be avoided on the treated area for three to five days to prevent unnecessary irritation.
  • Avoid laser-based treatments for at least two weeks.
  • Avoid exfoliating the skin for two to three days.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid topical products containing vitamin A, vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs. These should not be used for three to five days following treatment.
  • Hot baths, steam rooms and facial massage should be avoided for 24 hours.
  • Avoid sunburn for two weeks.
  • Soothe warm or sensitive skin by applying aloe vera or a cold compress.
  • Apply SPF 30 or higher to safeguard the skin.
  • Drink plenty of water to maintain overall skin resilience and integrity.
  • A follow-up appointment is recommended after 12 weeks to assess your progress and discuss any next steps.

Combining other treatments with HIFU

In many cases, RF Skin Tightening may be scheduled seven days after your appointment, depending on your skin condition and overall treatment goals. If you are interested in a combined approach, we recommend discussing this with your therapist.

How to maintain your results

Here are simple steps to help preserve results and ensure healthy skin moving forward.

Allow time for collagen renewal
You may notice some initial firmness following your appointment. However, collagen production occurs over time, with changes typically becoming more visible across the following 12 weeks.

Use targeted skincare products
Using skincare products formulated with well-selected active ingredients can help support and maintain the results of in-clinic treatments. Products designed to address concerns such as hydration, uneven texture and skin barrier support may assist with maintaining overall skin quality between appointments. Choosing formulations suited to your skin type and concerns can also help support long-term skin health and visible skin balance.

When to contact your provider

While most clients experience only mild and temporary effects following their session, it is important to monitor your skin in the days after treatment.

You should contact your therapist or health provider if you notice any of the following:

  • Swelling that persists or worsens beyond a few days
  • Increasing pain or tenderness rather than gradual improvement
  • Blistering, broken skin or unusual changes in skin texture
  • Signs of infection, such as spreading redness, warmth or discharge

Everyone’s skin reacts differently, and individual results may vary. Following proper HIFU pre- and post-care steps can ensure a smooth and stress-free experience. If you have any concerns about your recovery, our therapists are always ready to provide personalised advice.
