Body Composition Scan

If you want accurate results, you need to go beyond the scale.

A body composition analysis goes beyond your weight and breaks your body down into the four main components which contribute to your total body weight: fat, bone, muscle and water.

If you are measuring yourself against changes you see in your weight when you step on a scale, you aren’t able to determine if these changes are due to an increase (or decrease) in fat, or in muscle.

Set better goals by measuring fat-loss, not weight-loss.

The best method to use when setting and measuring your body goals is by looking at your ‘fat to weight ratio’. Unlike other common methods of measurement such as Body Mass Index (BMI), your fat to weight ratio takes into account your individual overall body composition – not just population-level averages. The InBody 770 body scan allows us to separate and segment your body fat from other factors which affect your overall weight (such as your muscle, bone & water).

Track & measure your progress – the right way.

Having a clear understanding of where your fat, muscle, and body levels are at means that you’ll have an accurate baseline and starting-point to guide and help you to achieve your goals: whether you’re looking to lose areas of unwanted fat, to build lean-muscle, or you’re focusing on a complete body transformation.

By undergoing regular body scans, you’ll be able to track & measure the changes in your body composition and chart your progress over time so you quickly and easily monitor your progress in reaching your goals, and make adjustments to your training or strategy in order to stay in track.

Technology & Devices

InBody Body Composition Scans takes around 60-seconds to complete. Unlike having an x-ray which can take up to an hour and requires you to remove all your clothes, you can have an InBody scan fully clothed.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a common method used to assess the health of an individual by comparing the amount of weight they carry to their height (BMI = kg/m2).

Whilst this method of calculation can be useful for identifying those who are at an increased health risk as a result of excess fat accumulation, one of the key limitations of BMI (or using your BMI to measure your overall body health) is that it is unable to determine whether changes in your weight are in fat, or in muscle.

Additionally, the BMI method of measurement also uses population-level averages and doesn’t take into account your individual body composition.

Here are the steps involved in a body fat scan:

  1. Take off shoes, socks, bulky clothing and items from pockets.
  2. Stand barefoot on the InBody 770 scanner, aligning your heels with the round silver electrodes and the rest of your feet with the foot electrode. Stay still and allow the device to measure your weight.
  3. When instructed, hold the hand electrodes by putting your thumbs on the top and wrapping your fingers around the bottom. Keep your arms relaxed and slightly away from your torso, ensuring your armpits are not touching (about 15 degrees apart).
  4. This body fat scan lasts for 60 seconds, and your results will automatically print after the test. It’s best to schedule an InBody 770 scan every two to four weeks to monitor and track your progress.

We charge $60 for a single body scan, however f you wish to pre-purchase multiple body scans, please speak with us in-clinic to learn more about special package pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

FAQ: Industry & Technology

The InBody 770 Body Composition Scan is extremely accurate. It is correlated to be as 98% as accurate as the top level DEXA (Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) scan across a broad spectrum, and non-standardised population including children, elderly, obese and athletes. This is of paramount importance as standardised data produces inaccurate results.
