What to do before Fat Freezing

In the days leading up to your appointment, please follow these guidelines:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for at least 48 hours prior to treatment. We cannot treat skin that is sunburnt, irritated or broken.
  • Do not undergo laser treatments on the area for 2 weeks before your appointment.
  • Avoid waxing the treatment area within 3 to 5 days before your session.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
  • Avoid caffeine for at least 2 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Avoid heavy or high-fat meals for approximately 1 hour before treatment.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing on the day of your appointment.
  • Ensure the treatment area is clean and free from patches, bandages or coverings.

Fat Freezing should be supported by a healthy lifestyle, including balanced nutrition, regular activity and adequate hydration of at least two litres of water per day. It is not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please also inform your therapist if you are taking any blood-thinning or skin-thinning medications or if there have been any recent changes to your health.

Cryolipolysis uses controlled cooling combined with gentle suction to treat the targeted area. As a result, mild and temporary bruising can occur. Those taking blood-thinning medications may bruise more easily or for a longer period.

What are the potential side effects of Fat Freezing?

As with any cosmetic treatment, temporary side effects can occur in the treated area, including:

  • Mild pain or aching
  • Stinging or tingling sensations
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Skin discolouration or bruising
  • Temporary skin sensitivity or numbness

These effects are typically short-term and may last from a few days to a few weeks. If required, your therapist may recommend a suitable analgesic to help manage any discomfort.

Less frequently, some individuals may experience:

  • Dizziness or nausea during or immediately after treatment
  • Abdominal cramping or mild bloating if the abdomen was treated
  • Tissue irregularities such as lumps or indentations
  • Undulations, nodules or uneven skin surface

Your therapist will discuss all potential risks with you during your consultation. If you experience any unusual or prolonged symptoms, let us know promptly.

Can I combine Fat Freezing with other cosmetic treatments?

Cryolipolysis can be incorporated into a broader body contouring plan when clinically appropriate. Certain treatments may be performed seven days after your Fat Freezing session, including Cellulite Reduction, RF Fat Melting, RF Skin Tightening and StimSure. These treatments can complement your program by targeting different concerns such as skin firmness or muscle stimulation.

On the other hand, LIPOcel Body Sculpting and HIFU Skin Tightening can only be done on the same treatment area after waiting at least 4 weeks.

Speak to our therapists if you’re interested in exploring other treatments to accelerate Fat Freezing results. Kindly note that not all treatments are suitable for every client, and timing between sessions is important to ensure your body responds appropriately.

How to maintain the results of Fat Freezing

Long-term maintenance depends on consistent lifestyle habits and completing your recommended treatment plan.

Monitor visceral fat levels

Cryolipolysis treats subcutaneous fat, which sits just beneath the skin. It does not treat visceral fat, the deeper fat stored around internal organs, which is influenced by different factors, such as nutrition, sleep, stress and physical activity.

To help maintain your results:

  • Follow a balanced, nutrient-dense diet
  • Stay physically active
  • Drink adequate water daily
  • Prioritise quality sleep
  • Manage stress levels

If lifestyle habits decline, visceral fat cells can expand, potentially affecting overall body composition. For this reason, maintaining consistency is important throughout your treatment program.

An InBody 770 body composition scan is conducted prior to each treatment to monitor progress. Clients are also encouraged to attend complimentary scans between sessions to help track changes and stay accountable.

Prioritise hydration

Fat cells treated during Cryolipolysis are gradually processed through the body’s natural metabolic pathways, including the liver and lymphatic system. Adequate water intake assists normal metabolic function and lymphatic circulation. Your therapist will calculate a recommended minimum daily water intake based on your age, weight and height following your InBody scan.

Follow your treatment plan

Non-surgical body contouring is a gradual process. In many cases, more than one session is required because the body needs time to respond and process treated fat cells. Attending the recommended follow-up sessions allows treatments to build on one another and helps achieve a more consistent fat reduction across the targeted area.
