RF Face Pre & Post Treatment Care

At Elite Body Contouring, RF facial treatments are designed to minimise skin laxity, soften textural irregularities and enhance visible radiance. Whether you’re just starting your treatment plan or have recently undergone a session, the RF face pre- and post-treatment guidelines below will help you care for your skin at each stage.

Why pre-treatment care matters

Taking the appropriate pre-treatment steps helps ensure your skin is suitable for RF energy. Skin that is irritated, sun-exposed or compromised may not respond as expected, which could lead to delays or adjustments to your session.

Before your RF face treatment session

Keep the following pre-treatment guidelines in mind:

  • Do not undergo cosmetic treatments for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
  • Facial peels should not be performed within 4 weeks before treatment.
  • Microdermabrasion should be avoided for 2 weeks leading up to your session.
  • Laser treatments on the area should not be undertaken for 2 weeks prior.
  • Minimise sun exposure and ensure the area is not sunburnt for 2 weeks before treatment.
  • Discontinue cosmeceuticals containing active ingredients (such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs) for 3–5 days prior to treatment.
  • Clients with dermal or metal implants in the treatment area (including chin implants) are not suitable for RF, as metal can attract RF energy and cause heat or discomfort.
  • If you are taking medications for breakouts, skin thinning or those that increase photosensitivity (such as Roaccutane), treatment cannot be performed due to the risk of skin sensitivity or burns.
  • Treatment cannot proceed if there are open wounds, active breakouts, infections or skin sensitivity present in the area.

Post-RF face care tips

While downtime is minimal, adhering to proper RF face pre- and post-treatment care can help manage sensitivity and support your skin as it settles.

  • Refrain from waxing the treated area for 3–5 days.
  • Laser treatments on the area should not be performed for 2 weeks.
  • Exfoliation should be paused for 2–3 days after treatment.
  • Avoid strenuous physical activity for 24 hours.
  • Don’t use skincare containing active ingredients (such as vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs) for 3–5 days post-treatment.
  • Avoid hot baths, steam rooms and massage for 24 hours.
  • Protect the area from sunburn during the healing process for 2 weeks.
  • If the skin feels warm or sensitive, apply aloe vera or use a cold compress on the area.
  • Apply SPF 30 daily to protect the skin.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

A follow-up appointment is recommended at 12 weeks to evaluate your progress and identify the next steps in your treatment plan.

How to maximise your results

Give your skin ample time to respond

While you may notice some initial firmness right after your session, more visible changes in contouring typically occur around 12 weeks after your initial RF facial treatment. Fine lines may appear softened, and overall facial definition may continue to improve over a series of appointments.

Maintain your results with at-home skincare

A consistent at-home skincare routine can help extend the benefits of your treatment. Using products formulated with clinically tested ingredients may support skin function and complement professional treatments over time. Incorporate hydrating serums, gentle cleansers and barrier-supporting moisturisers to help maintain skin hydration, comfort and overall balance between sessions.

Don’t skip follow-up appointments

Attend your RF facial appointments as recommended by your therapist. This allows each treatment to build on the last and ensures your plan stays on track. It also gives your therapist the opportunity to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments along the way.

When to contact your provider

It’s normal for the treated area to feel warm immediately after your RF facial treatment. You may also notice some temporary redness, flushing or a tingling sensation in the skin.

However, if you experience any unusual or prolonged discomfort, increased sensitivity or have concerns about how your skin is responding, reach out to us immediately. Your therapist will assess your symptoms and provide bespoke guidance to ensure your skin is supported throughout your recovery.
